• Monthly Inspections. The NFPA requires a monthly inspection of all fire extinguishers. While many businesses choose to handle this task themselves, others opt for one of our Safety Experts to complete this task. A monthly inspection consists of:
• Verifying all extinguishers are present in their designated locations.
• All units are fully charged by checking the pressure gage.
• A visual exam of units to ensure no damage has occurred to the cylinder, hose, or valve assemblies since the last inspection.

• Annual Maintenance. A yearly inspection of your fire extinguisher is required by local, city, state & national fire codes. Your insurance policy usually dictates that you have up to date fire safety equipment as well.

• Internal Maintenance and Hydrostatic Testing. Stored pressure ABC extinguishers are the most common, as they cover the 3 main classes of fires. They require internal maintenance every 6 years and hydrostatic testing every 12 years from their manufactured date. Other types of extinguishers may vary in their internal examination and testing intervals.
